The Queer Data Summit brings together leading figures engaged in the collection, analysis and use of gender, sex, and sexuality data.

The purpose of the Summit is not to instruct attendees on how to collect this data, as approaches will vary depending on the sector, industry, and the topic being investigated. Instead, we hope to share common challenges, reflect on data experiences, and build dialogue and solidarity among people working across different roles and sectors.

Highlights

Hosted on 12 June 2025, at the Edinburgh Futures Institute, the inaugural Queer Data Summit brought together a panel of 40 leading policymakers, researchers, community leaders and industry practitioners to discuss common challenges in the collection, analysis, and interpretation of gender, sex, and sexuality data. The event featured presentations, discussion panels, and collaborative workshops that addressed data’s integral role in reflecting and influencing societal norms.

Impact

We hope that the Summit sparks ongoing connections among attendees and encourages people to think beyond the checkbox when working with gender, sex and sexuality data.
