Championing LGBTQ voices, the Queer Data Showcase reimagines how conversations around queer data are shaped and how data shapes the world.

When used in art, governance, healthcare, and other contexts, data can help us, and our communities, imagine better versions of the world. However, current conversations about LGBTQ communities and data often focus on exclusion and erasure.

The Queer Data Showcase aims to shift this narrative by placing LGBTQ people at the centre of the conversation. The event is an open invitation to artists, academics, activists, and anyone working with or interested in queer data—as a material, concept, process, or problem—to share and showcase their work.

Highlights

The inaugural event, held on 5 June 2025, at the Pleasance in Edinburgh, featured contributions from people engaged in a variety of queer data projects. These contributions ranged from a multimedia jazz improvisation to a discussion on queer time machines.
